Immunophenotype and differentiation potential of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) derived from bone marrow (BM) was studied. Isolation of individual colonies allowed to investigate colony-forming and differentiation capacities of the cells within single subpopulations. The cells derived from large colonies showed high ability to expansion and induced mesenchymal differentiation into osteogenic and adipogenic directions. During cultivation in a mixture of osteogenic and adipogenic inductive media BM MSCs demonstrated a predominance of osteogenic differentiation.

Key words: bone marrow, mesenchymal stromal cells, differentiation.
